Too Big, Too Small

If the little elephant plays on the swing with his friends, he will break the swing’s chain.

If the little elephant plays football with his friends, he will pop the ball.

If the little elephant plays on the rocking horse, he will squish it with his big bottom.

If the little elephant plays on the seesaw, even if all his friends sit on the other end they cannot send him flying into the air even a tiny bit.

One day, the friends went exploring caves’ together, but the little elephant got stuck in the mouth of the cave.

No matter how hard they pushed, it was impossible to push the little elephant into the cave.

So, they decided to play hide-and-seek, the little elephant’s favorite game, but where could he hide his big bottom?

Then they decided to go swimming in the pond, the little elephant jumped into the pond with a huge splash. But oh no! All of his friends were thrown out with the waves.

They climbed up into the tree-house, little elephant wanted to too.
“Come on!”
“No, no, no!”
All of his friends were freaking out.

Not able to play any games with his friends, the little elephant felt very sad.

He walked away alone.

The little elephant sat down on the ground and cried. Then just at that moment a little mouse walked by. He saw the little elephant was crying and started to cry too.

“What are you crying about?” the little elephant asked.
The little mouse wailed: “Because I am too small and I can’t play any games with my friends.”

“A football is much bigger than me.”

“The seesaw never moves even a little bit when I sit on it.”

“The rocking-horse is too high.”

“Not to mention the swing.”

“I am afraid to swim because the ocean is so terrible” the little mouse said.
“The ocean?” the little elephant asked, but he realized immediately the mouse must mean the pond.

“Erm...do you like playing hide-and-seek ?” asked the little elephant.
“I love this game.” the little mouse answered, “No one can find me if I hide.”
So they play together, the little mouse hid in a hole in the tree.

But the little elephant had a very good nose, he sniffed around everywhere and soon found the hole. The little elephant blew hard in the hole and the little mouse flew out from a hole in the top of the tree like a rocket.

The little elephant caught the little mouse with his long nose, and tossed him up, again and again; they were so happy.

Just then, they heard some shouts in the distance.

The little elephant climbed onto a big stone and raised little mouse up high.

“Oh no! The tree-house is on fire!” the little mouse shouted out as he saw the dark smoke billowing from the tree-house.

Their friends must be trapped in the burning tree-house. The little elephant put the little mouse on his head and said: “Hold tight!” then the little elephant broke into a run.

The tree-house was on fire, the rope ladder had burned away. The little elephant tried to rescue his friends with his nose, but the flames stopped him.
“Come on! Let’s fetch some water from the ocean.” the little mouse shouted at this important moment.

“Yes!” the little elephant ran hurriedly to the pond.

When he couldn’t suck up anymore water, his nose became very fat and almost transparent.

He ran back with a lot of water, sprayed the water on the tree-house, just like a fire-fighting truck.

A powerful stream of water was turned on the flames, the fire was put out at once with a great sizzling noise. The friends were rescued.

They could not stop breathing heavily, it was so dangerous they hadn’t yet recovered from the shock.

Thanks to the little elephant and little mouse, not only were the friends rescued but also the tree-house and the whole forest saved. Amazing!
