It started with a vision in my head that ideas are like bubbles. They form, float, and dissapear. After trying to doodle this I found that I actually had no idea how bubbles actually cluster. To the internet!
UC Berkley researchers did a really facinating simulation to showcase the mathematics behind bubble clusters. Armed with new knowledge, I decided to make a mock-up in SketchUp.
I was able to see the intersections easier and could then outline the parts I wanted.
From there I took a jpg image into Illustrator to trace and create the bubbles.
