Dylan's Candy Bar: Retail Signage Program
SIGNAGE PROGRAM
Signage Manual: I created this manual for all Retail Stores to have the signage guidelines on hand. This simple pdf was easy for stores to print on their own printers or view online. The manual was made with simplicity in mind, therefore I used a simple grid and straight to the point captions indicating what each sign is used for.  The photography was shot by myself at the Flagship store to model the best examples of how signage should be used in all stores, as well as how not to use signage. This manual was designed in hand with the Dylan's Candy Bar brand guidelines as well.
Perforated Templates with the Dylan's Candy Bar signature stripe pre-printed. The signature stripe is primarily used as our branding tool for price point signage.  I created these pre-printed, perforated templates for all retail store locations to easily tear and use in various sizes based on our Signage Guideline Manual that I also created.
Bulk Candy Signage. Dylan's Candy Bar offers every candy from Chocolate to Gummy to Sour to Sugar Free candy. I created different styles of signage templates for our Bulk Candy including Everyday Bulk Candy, Sugar Free Candy, New Bulk Candy and even signage for our Seasonal Bulk Candy which features limited time candy such as different flavored Taffy, assorted Licorice, Halloween candy, Christmas Candy and more.
HANGING SIGNS
Hanging Signs were used in our retail stores to bring attention to specific assortments including Seasonal Assortments such as Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Passover; New Products and Collaborations including Minions, Nostalgic Candy assortments, and more. I produced all hanging signs in collaboration with the branding styles established by the graphic designers on the creative team, though I had the opportunity to create the designs for some of the signs, I also coordinated with our printer via phone and email to ensure the proper printing specifications as well as timely delivery of the hanging signs to each retail store. Hanging signs allowed me to use my print production skills, layout skills, organization skills, communication skills and at times design skills when given the opportunity to design signs from scratch.
Our Valentine's Day assortment was very heavy since it included traditional chocolate and sweets as well as new ones. I noticed that the products in our assortment fell into different subcategories under the main category of Valentine's Day and wondered if instead of throwing multiple Valentine's Day candy into displays with no meaning, we could possibly bring attention to these assortments by focusing on themes. I had the liberty of looking over the entire Valentine's Day assortment and come up with the subcategory themes. I worked with the Buying Team and the Director of Visual Display and the final themes chosen were "Love Stinks," "For Your Man,” "Cold Winter Nights," and of course "Happy Valentine's Day." The graphic designers on the creative team designed the concept of the hearts for this holiday and I concepted the copywriting, the subcategories, and hanging sign layouts and design in line with the chosen branding element of the hearts. These hanging signs allowed us to curate our heavy Valentine's Day in an exciting way for the customer.
Signage created for 2 carefully curated candy assortments based on nostalgic hometown Chicago candies & chocolate. For these hanging signs I had the liberty of designing them alonside the creative director. The goal was to portray Chicago pride and Dylan's Candy Bar together to attract tourist customers in search for hometown Chicago sweets. The first assortment focused on Chicago chocolates, we designed the sign with the Chicago skyline and the classic Dylan's Candy Bar rainbow stripe. The second assortment focused on nostalgic hometown Chicago candy, we designed the sign with the Chicago flag and kept it fun and hip with a pop of purple and a nostalgic background. 
 
OTHER
Color Your World Bulk features candy in every color of the rainbow including favorites like Sixlets, Gumballs, Foiled Chocolates, Licorice Wheels and more. Our LA location needed signage that screamed Color Your World in a fun way. I created this sign to go above the Bulk Candy to let customers know they were at Color Your World. Our photographer beautifully captured candy in every color and I put together a beautiful collage in Photoshop to showcase our Color Your World Candy on the sign.
This ice cream cone vinyl was designed to help customers identify cone flavors. We needed this to be easy for the customer to understand yet playful, colorful and in line with the Dylan's Candy Bar brand guidelines; I achieved this through photography by choosing a consistent photo style for all 4 flavors as well as teal type in all caps for a quick read.
Closed for the season but we are now hiring for our May 2015 opening. Our "now hiring sign" was placed in the window of our East Hampton location and our "closed for the season" sign was placed on the two entrance doors. We wanted our customers to have a heads up about our Ice Cream Cafe that would open in May 2015 so I designed both signs with ice cream cones in line with our cute colorful and bright brand guideliness in mind.
