Connect - Roses Dementia Tech 2015

CONCEPT

A reactive wristband called Connect that records the wearer's real-time body data (body temperature, heart rate, sleep activity, G.P.S and falls). The device has two specific functions.

1 - Firstly to regulate the individual's environment (heating and light levels) wirelessly using their body temperature and a built in fall alarm
2 - Secondly to record data to help the person with dementia make decisions about their care and identify potential health and wellbeing issues that may be overlooked or forgotten by providing data records for medical appointments

PRODUCT AND BRAND DESIGN

The Connect wristband is designed to be comfortable and simple to use. Sensors are situated on the underside of the wristband against the skin and there is no screen. This ensures a decent battery life and prevents the wristband catching onto clothes. The device can be used solely by the Dementia sufferer or by a number of people including carers and other health professionals on their behalf. The device name, visual identity and typefaces are clear, memorable and easy to understand. This is particularly important as the target market may suffer from any number of visual / audio / communication / cognitive difficulties. The icons are simple and communicate as a graphic trigger when words may become more difficult to remember and understand.
