Habitus is an exhibit created for the Abierto Mexicano de Diseño 2014. In alliance with Grupo Lite, Habitus was designed as an interactive platform to present the first entries in C37’s material catalogue, a collaboration with local design studio, Hvppy 2gether. The exhibit consisted of different experimentations in material manipulation to create new functionality. The theme centered on an exploration of the elements that create a social environment, and the factors that affect the thoughts and feeling of its inhabitants.
The light design and visual identity of Habitus create an atmosphere that encourages this exploration. It leads visitors into a space of curiosity and a singular kind of social interaction, revolving completely around the manipulation and observation of the materials.
With Grupo Lite, we were able to integrate the new Philips Hue wireless light system into Habitus.
Hue is an innovative system that uses smartphone connectivity to allow real time changes in lighting intensity and tempeture. With it, we are able to invite visitors of the exhibition to interact directly with its atmosphere, designing their own take on the Habitus concept. This technology uses lights capable of emitting the full color spectrum and can change each individual bulb's brightness in real time.
