Even though Beyond the Field is a Christian romance novel, I was asked by Jamie to incorporate elements on the cover that symbolized two of the characters: a firefighter and a football player. The firefighter has a Belgian Malinois as a working dog for his job. Jamie is particularly fond of the dog so she wanted me to have him as the focal point for the cover. I was also asked to have the dog walking on a football field that was on fire, so I agreed and created the cover illustration based off of her requests.
