Treasure Diggers is a webcomic about the adventures of Nugget,
a mole who has found every single pirate treasure and who is now looking for treasures above ground,
and Emily, a girl who will help him find his bearing in a world that he doesn't know yet.
Find out how the comic has been made, from the beginning up to the first episode,

Nugget and Emily are the characters that required the most in terms of work and development. Nugget is funny and goofy, but most of all he looks out of place among the people on the surface. Emily on the contrary is stubborn and independent, she knows how to take care of herself and is constantly dreaming of new adventures to escape the monotony of city life. Their designs had to match these characteristics and they also had to work well together in terms of shapes and colors, because these two are inseparable!

The pirates are the co-protagonists and they lead the cast of secondary characters. Inscrutable and menacing but - in Nugget's imagination - always wacky and amusing in a world without piracy. The other characters had to be equally recognizable, with their physical and aesthetic qualities exaggerated when necessary. Since Emily and Nugget will be travelling a lot it's important that every character is easily distinguishable from the get-go!

Color studies might seem of secondary importance in a black and white comic, but they help to establish the comic's mood. It is also of great help for covers and colored inserts. Every scene should immediately convey the right atmosphere, even by pushing towards almost monochromatic palettes.
Drawing the comic was the hardest work, since every episode is made of 30 pages. The story should never lose rhythm, the framing should always look appealing and most importantly the reader should be hooked until the ending. The covers will always have themes of their own but still closely related to those of travel and adventure.

Animated Gifs are the heart of this project. These little animations should always be funny and adding to the personalities of the characters. They're all made with traditional 2D animation techniques and should always prove to be an entertaining surprise when they pop out during your reading.
The design of the website was the last step, but a good presentation is always an integral part of the final result
A colorful look, an animated banner, a lot of drawings and an interface that's as simple as possible.
Now you only have to visit it and try it out for yourself!
