the Right Square se presenta como un proyecto único en la ciudad de A Coruña, se trata de un estudio de fotografía en el que tienen cabida la venta de Photobooks y exposiciones itinerantes de fotografía artística y documental.
Se trata de un proyecto con un marcado carácter que pretende crear una imagen limpia, de calidad y que transmita sencillez. El interior del estudio se abre al exterior mediante una gran galería desde la cuál podemos ver la totalidad del estudio. La zona de exposición y la zona de venta se unen creando un único espacio, sin barreras visuales o físicas, delimitado simplemente por el cambio de materiales.
Es desde el punto de venta de photobooks desde donde se distribuye el espacio hacia el resto de recintos del local, dando acceso al baño, al cuarto oscuro, a la oficina y al estudio.Tanto el baño como el cuarto oscuro se tratan como dos bloques de color, en los que la totalidad del volumen es de un solo color. La utilización de los colores primarios, el negro y el blanco hace referencia a los dos tipos de fotografía (según el color) que existen.
El proyecto representa la relación que tienen los clientes con la fotografía, del proceso de conocimiento de la fotografía, desde la admiración (galería) hasta el aprendizaje (representado por el estudio-taller). También existen referencias a los comienzos de la fotografía, a aquellos pioneros de mediados del s XIX que utilizaban como estudios, áticos y bajocubiertas para aprovechar la luz natural cenital. En el caso de the Right Square está representado por el lucernario instalado en el estudio, mezclandose lo antiguo con la tecnología más actual.
the Right Square is presented as a unique project in the city of A Coruña. It’s about a photograph studio which involves Photobooks vending and itinerant exhibition of artistic and documentary photography.
It’s a project with a distinct character which aims to create a clear image, with quality, and simplicity. The study’s inside it’s opened to the outside through a large gallery, which gives an image of transparency. The exposition area and the sales area are joined creating an only space, without visual or physic barriers, and just delimited by the material change.
In the Photobook vending area is where the space is distributed to the rest of the local enclosure, giving access to the toilets, the dark room, the office and the studio. Both dark room and toilet are treated as two colour blocks, which entirely volume is only of one colour. The using of primary colours, black and white, make reference to both photography types (according to the colours) that exist.
The Project represents the customers’ relation with photography, the photography knowledge process, ranging from admiration (gallery) to learning (represented by the studio-workshop). It also exist references to the origin of photography , to these pioneers from the mid-twentieth century which used as a study, attics and belowdecks to take advantage from the natural zenithal light. In The Right Square case, it’s represented by the skylight installed in the studio, mixing the old with the most current technology.
