I was very interested in responsive web-design but I had a hard time understanding it at first. After reading a few books/articles on the subject and trying out several examples, I felt comfortable with it. I just needed context, a method of applying my new found knowledge to something tangible. When our class was given the assignment of gathering all of our research topics for Front End Development, I set several goals. I wanted to first make a nice, clean design, and I wanted keep all of my content above the fold. With many pages of content it was not the most simple task. I knew many designers/developers used light-boxes to click from a thumbnail to a larger image, I also knew there must be a way to replace the thumbnails with a navigation and the large images with content. Using jQuery I did just that. I then made the site responsive, rather quickly. I also taught myself how to make background images responsive when decided to change my logo from live text into an image.
