Good vs Bad Designs

STARTUP LOGO

Atosho gives digital Publishers full shopping experience. The logo above shows the name and a fullstop against a white/gray background. Plain and too simple are the right words for this, to the point that we may think that the designer had been slacking while working on this particular design. The choice of colours don’t really help. On top of that, their decision to place a point at the end of the word is really pointless. Fortunately, they have now rebranded their logo, and it’s an upgrade. Especially with the inclusion of a trolley image; signifying shopping and gives a better message than the non-existent one in the logo above.

RelateIQ focuses on customer interactions and their powerful Relationship Intelligence helps you to better manage relationships. The simplicity of this logo, as opposed to the previous logo, oozes intelligence and smartness where the letters ‘I’ and ‘Q’ are merged into one symbol and has white as its color; a good contrast against the green background. This makes the overall design look neat and even professional.

ALBUM COVER
- Bad -
Another design that tells you that the design team just didn’t get paid enough. This album cover looks like something a high schooler would make during a regular designing exercise. Areas to be improved on this design are the fonts, their colours and creativity. Making black as the colour of the album title doesn’t really go well. Moreover, the colour of the background is the same as the colour of the artist’s shirt. The only good thing about this album cover is the nice close-up shot of the artist.

A throwback album cover that conveys the right message in regards to classical songs sung by this pop singer. Design looks pleasing to the eyes, and the right choice of colours and fonts can simply achieve this. The ambience is just right. The texts are readable and they stand well against the background.

PACKAGING

Black Raspberry. The first thing we see about the product is the way they put the text. Basic and simple fonts were used. Other than that, the sentence "Taste like grandma" makes it even more eye-popping. The picture used is not well-suited and is inappropriate. Thus, the overall design of the package is bad.

GoPro hero4 Black Edition. The best and smallest sports camera in the world. Just like it's product, the product comes with a very quality package. It makes the buyer feels like the item is very valuable and very well protected. The informations given is well placed and in detail and they're easy enough for buyers to read.

WEBSITE

HeadHunter Hair Styling. The first thing we noticed about the website is how the background is placed. It is not even aligned to the screen and the worst thing about it is the repeated images throughout the webpage. The icon menu on the top of the webpage is not suitable for the theme nor for the company's logo. On the other hand, the font style used is comic sans; a font that makes designers a bad designer. As for the information given, the only thing they mentioned is the hours.

VNStar development group. Upon visiting the website, we are greeted with a nice transition animation whilst entering the homepage screen. A page with minilist design that is pleasing to the eye. The design is consistent throughtout the webpages. Every scroll down the website was given an animation for each section for the website. Information given are straightforward. As the saying goes, less is better. Overall, it's an amazing website.
