Examples of good and bad graphic design
The following is an example of the good and bad graphic design. The examples will be based on website that are form between the years 2014 to 2015.
Good Design

Comelite provides services such as web development, mobile application, software development, management system and many more.
Navigations provide important links that are useful to users. They also tell the user which page they are in according to the font color on the navigation bar. They have their own search engine function to help user to search for specific key word.
The navigation also has a feature that when one of the link is mouse-over, another set of sub-menus will be provided. This usually happen when there are too many sections in one menu. Example is the services where the company have many types of services such as graphic design and website design.
The information they present is brief and easy to understand. It is also well organized and are arranged according to their categories. The contents does not stray out of topic and instead, it highlights the important subject such as their business practices and how they operate.
The font is readable and the color complements with the background. The font style give a professional feel to it to show that the company can be trusted.
The images used throughout the website are not scattered all over and edited properly. The media elements are appropriate with the theme, avoiding any conflicting design. It uses PNG format to avoid any contradictory background color.
Color theme is consistent in every sub-pages making it easy to read, especially if users need to spend their time to read through the contents.
Bad design

Head Hunter Hair Styling is a store that provides hair cut services. They recently build their own website in order to promote their services to other areas. Unfortunately the website design is not what we expected.
Taking one look at the overall design, it can be summarize as unorganized and unprofessional. It’s as if the website is put together in a haste. Below are some of the reasons why this website design in bad:
All the links are not well-arrange and pack together. There are also unnecessary airplane icon at each navigation link. There are rooms for improvement with the link such as using buttons instead or try to minimize the text used for them so that they are equal in size.
Background image keeps repeating. It does not have any connection to the store itself and it also has a faint watermark at the corner. The repeated images because of design confliction and will affect the overall look since it will appear at every web page. Using images that have watermark will cause a problem as it does not belong to them.
The font and color used is unethical. Due to the background image, the color clashes making it harder to read. There are no consistence in the font colors as this site uses more than three types.
The website does not possess a proper banner that goes with the store’s logo. It only use the same image from the background and paste the logo on the center. This shows an apathetic work and no consideration to the consequences when creating it. The banner also disappear when going to another page hence inconsistent.
The arrangement of information in each page content is not properly place. Some of the text are align to the left and others are at the center. Some of the design elements are confusing especially the pictures. Most of them are not well edited and scatter everywhere. There is also GIF picture which is redundant and distracting.
Overall the web design is not what a long-time hair cutting shop should use. It lacks creativity and planning hence the disastrous design. There is probably a reason behind such website such as that they did not know how to make a proper website or does not have enough resources to make one.
