James & the Giant Peach Bookcover
Penguin Design Award 2011 - Childrens Puffin Award - Shortlisted
My concept was to create a book cover completely different from QuentinBlake’s faux naïve style by usingsimplistic shapes and strong colours.
I used a bright and warm colour pallette torepresent the feelings of companionship and friendship that are often shownwithin the book. The cover has a greatsense of depth to represent the long journey that the characters embark upon. I created the characters and left them quiteminimal, to allow for the strong characteristics and personalities to fuel thereader’s imagination.
