SILVER LINING — De Vecchi Milano 1935

This project aims to enhance the historical and artistic heritage of De Vecchi Milano 1935: an Italian silverware manufacturing company based in Milan.
I spent a couple of months in the atelier exploring old archives, observing craftsmen at work — in order to learn their techniques — and focusing on each object’s manufacturing process singularly.
Thanks to this first investigation I conceived different kinds of intervention to modify the manufacturing process of selected silver objects.

The purpose of these interventions was to create new objects capable of showing and telling their own story, communicating their real value: the dedication of the craftman who made it, the time that he spent, and the traditional know-how characterizing this company. A tribute to craftsmen and their amazing work, often underrated or unperceived.
