During my weeks interning at Dirt Magazine, Art director Chris Jones asked me to design a Typographic based 'DIRT' sticker to giveaway at the upcoming NEC Cycle Show. After looking at some of his favourite design blogs and books I sensed an appreciation for 70/80's retro type and early surf branding. I went away and came back with some bright poppy brush script ideas aswell as a rework of a font that already featured in the magazine as a title font with some 'Memphis' treatment. 
The final sticker was a developed Memphis Font, we added some geometric shapes behind the type and chose the brightest colour that had featured in the kit, bikes and equipment in the cycling industry that year to make it look good next to anything people wanted to stick it on, be it their helmet, bike, laptop or dashboard.
