Thisis the beast for my interpretation of Beauty and the Beast. I wanted him tofeel really powerful and imposing and quite sub human to reflect his character.
I wantedQuasi Modo to be similar in style to the beast however I didn’t want him to portrayan emotion of anger because I see him as more of a tragic character that nevershould have existed.
Thisis my queen. I wanted her to have a sense of a past beauty that she believesshe has never lost. However I didn’t want her to look to feminine because, I thinkthat for her to have a slightly more commanding appearance would contrast wellwith the softer imagery of snow white.
The wolf is a particularly interesting charter for me because i made him look nothing like what you would perceive a werewolf. I did this as a conscious decision because i wanted create more of a sense of mystery to the character.
These are the full illustration I created. Eachone portrays the two most significant characters of the tale. They all followthe same theme of having the main character silhouetted I wanted the colors to reallystrike the viewer and appeal to the eye!
