Honours Project: 3D Environment

This was the scene for my honours project ar Abertay University. The project was based on how styles and design choices can affect the players mood whilst walking through a scene, inspired by Expressionism. 
These design choices were inforced by how architects use a Parti (the overall idea) and the use of visual cues. In this example, I took an Expressionist method in personifying the boiler, in order to create an emotional responce within the player.
I also took a more subliminal approach such as using vertical bars throughout this scene to make the room feel enclosed. Other visual storyteling props were added such as the rocks and pickaxe to suggest maybe that the person living here may want to escape.
