Potsdam City Palace
 
The Potsdam City Palace (Potsdamer Stadtschloss) in the Alter Markt (Old Market) area. The Palace has been reconstructed in recent times, and now houses the parliament of the state of Brandenburg, Germany.
Potsdam's Brandenburger Tor at Night
 
The Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate) in Potsdam on the Luisenplatz. Built by the order of Frederick II in 1770 to commemorate his victory in the 7 year war.
This night view also shows the planets Jupiter (just above the gate, right off center) and Venus (to the far right).
The old Astronomical Observatory of Potsdam
 
This is now the location of the Potsdam institute for Climate Impact Research, in the Albert Einstein Science Park, Potsdam. It is here that Michelson first conducted his famous experiment.
Fake Roman ruins, Sanssouci Park, Potsdam
 
These faux ruins were created by Emperor Frederick the Great, to embellish the water tank that he had built to supply water to the gardens of Sans Souci Park. Unfortunately the water tank never worked. I think the area is called Ruinenberg.
I like the reflection of the ruins in the water, which was perfectly still at the time.
Fountains and Gardens of SansSoucci Palace, Potsdam
 
The SansSoucci Palace was built for the Prussian King Frederick the Great, as a summer residence. Its at the top of a terraced hill in the SansSoucci Park. The Park itself contains beautiful fountains and sculptures.
The Great fountain and Ornamental Garden of Sanssouci palace, Potsdam
 
Built by Frederick the Great as a summer retreat. Below the terraced vineyards of the Palace are these beautiful gardens, with a fountain in the center, surrounded by marble statues.
Grounds of Einstein Park near the Einsteinturm, Potsdam
 
Science amidst idyllic surroundings. On the grounds of the Einstein Science Park, near the Einsteinturm (Einstein Tower), Potsdam. It seemed like a beautiful area to sit and discuss science.
Potsdam Babelsberg Castle from Glienicke Bridge
 
A view of the Babelsberg Castle on the Havel river in Potsdam, from the Glienicke Bridge (The "Bridge of Spies"). The Babelsberg Castle and Park is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. It was built for King William I and his wife as a summer residence.
