I recently saw the awesome CGI Bubbles by Moritz Schwind (link) and was so impressed by them that I decided to give it a shot. He used octane to render it out and since we rely mainly on VRay I thought that it would be interesting side project to complete.
Since I had the Soap bubble shader from Diffusion Designer shader pack the more challenging part was to came out with a solution for the geometry. Sadly even when using python there is no workaround and you simply have to use the Booleans.
If you've dipped your toes in C4D even for a bit you know how ugly those are. While being so much fun to work on, I'm still not quite satisfied with the end results. Nevertheless it was very interesting and most importantly with a rapid turnaround.
You can find stills from the different styles below.
Soap bubble on a light background.
Low poly version with a cage on top.
The exact same soap bubble shader. The only difference is the drastically darker background.
The same cage used here as well.
Simple wire frame using the Edge shader of VRay.
Thank you for watching!
