This is a reverse gilded glass sign made to show the many techniques of this wonderful craft. I sketched this artwork about 5 weeks ago. The artwork consists of cut glass known as brilliant cutting, deep sand blasting , mica stipple acid etching in 2 sizes, Matt gilding and water gilding in 12, 16 ,18 and 24 crt loose gold leaf. The banners were hand painted and blending was done with 1000's of fine painted dots similar to lithograph work. Once all the etching was completed the whole piece of glass was slumped and curved in a kiln for 24 hours to a depth of 2 inches. I have to say this was a nerve racking part of the process. The piece is just short of 22 inch in height. The frame is made of mahogany and is French Polished
