The client wanted to restore this Grade A listed Georgian property back to its original state. This meant keeping or reinstating any features that were salvageable and we also made modern day editions where requested by the client.

This project truly was a case of stripping everything back to original! Some of these things involved: Taking away any features that was not original; stripping all paint work back to limestone plaster finish; patching any exposed lath from lose plaster; removing any door which was not 6 panel; stripping all 3 flights of pen-check stairs; stripping all 120 spindles from the balustrade; lifting parquet flooring in the hallways to reveal original flagstones; re-open all fireplaces; revealing any doorways which had been previously sealed/covered.

Once we had stripped the building back to all original it was only the bare bones. We then began to reinstate the 3 story Georgian property, and with a great client, started to produce a truly great property.

Slight alterations were made to allow for more comfortable living and to maximise the properties space. The restoration involved: reinstating all fireplaces with hand carved mantelpieces and marble inserts, plus new hearths were required; reinstating 6 panel doors where required; re-levelling the hallway floor joists to allow for a level surface for the under-floor heating with original flagstones laid on top; re-claimed flooring laid where appropriate; replacing any broken or missing spindles.

Personally, I felt a great level of personal achievement once I detailed and organized instillation of the two marble showers, which combined, cost in the region £18,000. This price includes the 1m long, and 2m long drainage channels plus the sheet marble for the wall surfaces, plus shower units, (excluding glazing).
