Auto IVI Design Research
Envisioning the Future of the Connected Car
The connected car is likely to be a crucial testing ground, not only for the development of new mobile interaction models but for the experimental formulation of computer personalities.

Following an invitational workshop on the Future of the Connected Car that I led at THE MEME in the summer of 2011, I have been leading an internal team in the research, ideation, and development of GUI, PUI, and service design development involving various aspects of automobile IVI (In-vehicle Infotainment) systems. I also conceived, wrote and storyboarded the above short promotional video describing the theme of this ongoing project. I blog about it here

Contextual dashboards that modulate the visual intensity and complexity of menu options and display elements based on speed, driving conditions, driver fatigue, or other factors.
A communication surface that bridges the isolation of the front and back seats and fosters collaborative decision making, and entertaining new experiences.
Sponsoring awareness of environment and context through AR gaming and learning applications.
