Klimo Library - Hungary

The former episcopal library was founded in 1774 by Klimo Görgy Bishop of Pécs. To support the printing of the books he also founded a paper mill, and employed the printer Engel János József. The Klimo-Collection was brought to its present place in 1832, by Bishop Szepesy Ignác. The tomes were separated in two rooms based upon their looks and size. The collection was generously offered to the Magyar Királyi Erzsébet University in 1923 by the former Bishop, Zichy Gyula.
The Klimo-Collection consists of around 35.000 copies.
The gilded and parchment bonded tomes provide the enchanted feeling of the library.
