Oleksandra Gerasymchuk's profile

// Experimental Immersive Device //

I first worked on the aesthetic part of the project, that's why my first ideas made look the device like an eyewear piece, and it looked too much like an ornamental piece as well.
That's why I had to make the global design simplier.

These designs look very simple which allowed me to make the models and the prototypes myself, and to work closely with the polarising filters too. Here are the first models of the device.
Working on these models made me think that I could  change the polarising filter in order to emphasize the impact of the device.

The material is too fragile too handle it with an utility knife or a drypoint, that's why I used laser engraving in order to incise it carefully and fold and curve it. In the end, depending on the final form of each filter, our vision is deformed differently.

The polarising filter used for the device comes from a computer screen, and I found it curous that the material used for limiting our sight comes from a machine that is supposed to show us almost everything.

We can also notice that the face of the one who uses the device is misshapen, so the reality is altered for both the
user and the external viewer.
