Infinite Connections - Burning Man 4267

For Burning Man 2015, Eridu Society adopted a 'Carnival of Space and Time' theme (riffing on the even'ts Carnival Of Mirrors Theme).  The camp fancies itself as a time-traveling explorer's club, and the idea was that they had traveled into the future and brought back art theme posters from 8 different events.

The full-sized poster measures 36" x 48" at 600dpi, and are installed in wall unit displays on either side of the camp's Ziggurati installation.
This one was going to be more abstract and cerebral from the start.  In the very distant future, humans were reaching out and making connections not only throughout the universe.. but across multiple universes.  After initially considering a number of Escher-inspired design concepts, I came back to one of my favorite subjects, chaos theory.  I put the technology I had available to work exploring fractals, and as it progressed the idea got bigger, and so did the resolution.  The final image weighs in at more than 620 megapixels, with each individual pixel having been calculated a thousand times.  The resulting image has an incredibly delicate feel, and while the greenish color might make you think of The Matrix or synaptic connections within the mind, if you look very closely on the full size image, you’ll see that the red dot in the middle is actually a heart.
