The intent was to tell a larger story, using the song as only a portion – albeit a crucial portion – of that content.

 

The video is a character study, showcasing the slow-burn of mundanities and disappointments our hero must slog through before he can find sweet release in the one thing he lives for: bar karaoke.

 

It was picked up and debuted on NPR.
