Browhaus x SHENTONISTA: #Browhunt

BROWHAUS x SHENTONISTA CAMPAIGN
April 2015 - August 2015
In this collaboration with Browhaus, we first featured a group of five charming ladies who all have their own individual sense of style, not only in terms of their dressing, but also their makeup and beauty looks. Each lady was given their very own set of Browhaus products which include five colours of Bi-Liner, Precision Eyeliner, HD Mascara and Extend Lash & Brow Growth Serum, to experiment with. They were then shot along the streets of Orchard Road and later entered into a Facebook competition alongside 11 other Shentonistas. The public voted for the ladies whom they thought best represented Browhaus, and the winner, runner-up, and top commenter all received prizes from Browhaus, Spa Esprit, and Strip.

INFLUENCER CAMPAIGN
Browhaus x SHENTONISTA — Blush
Linda, DJ/Model/Designer, Bralet from Topshop, Shorts from YESAH, Sunglasses from Nastygal
Linda uses the Browhaus Bi-Liner in Blush Pink, the Browhaus Precision Eyeliner, and the Browhaus HD Mascara

We all know Linda to be incredibly busy — she calls herself an “all-rounder style multi-tasker cum communicator”. She runs her own label, Yesah, and as a practically one-woman show, has to deal with retailers, wholesalers, and production contractors, while drafting out new designs, sourcing for new fabrics, finding new concepts and ideas to work with for any upcoming collections or projects. She also works as a freelance wardrobe stylist, and on the side, DJs at fashion events. One project she’s most excited about at the moment is Yesah’s Identity Kit, a book/kit that includes all the past works of Yesah, including collaborations, special projects, inspirations and editorials. “It's part personal and part work so it's the best of both!” Linda says. “I hope to launch this in September during Yesah's 3rd Anniversary, as a way of giving back to all the collaborators who have helped Yesah bit by bit along the way.” We find some time to speak to her about her unique look, sense of style, and her work life.
Browhaus x SHENTONISTA — Rouge
Jessica, Self-employed, Watch from Daniel Wellington, Shoes from Pedder Red
Jessica did Browhaus' Colour Tweak treatment on her eyebrows, and uses the Browhaus Bi-Liner in Bronze and the Browhaus Precision Eyeliner

Jessica is one busy girl — when she isn’t preoccupied with social media and clients, she’s preparing to move into her new home, which she helped to design, and we caught her just a few days before she was due to fly off for a holiday. She’s also in the midst of preparing for her new online label, which she plans to launch in the third quarter of the year. With a background in business and an interest in fashion and design, Jessica’s putting her knowledge to good use, and isn’t neglecting her personal style in the meantime. We find out a bit more about her beauty must-haves and what she’s up to now.
Browhaus x SHENTONISTA — She's Got The Blues
Ellie, Student, Clutch from Browhaus, Thrifted Jacket, Bracelets from Lokai
Ellie uses the Browhaus Bi-Liner in Midnight Blue and the Browhaus HD Mascara

Ellie will soon officially graduate from her Fashion Design course at Temasek Polytechnic, and is already looking forward to her next big step. “School meant endless hours of being cooped up in my studio, sketching, sewing, fitting and all that,” she says. “I would love to start a little fashion and lifestyle site that focuses on everyday pieces that we could buy. I'm still deciding what I should call it. I’d also like to keep up illustrating as my hobby.” She goes on to add that she wishes she had more time for all her boundless ideas and energy. “I wished I didn't need time for sleep or food, so that I can branch out on my works,” she says. “I've been meaning to work on other forms of design such as illustration, creative branding, stuff like that. And I should be working out more, and quit lazing about!” Although Ellie has a clear creative disposition, she also sees the importance of mixing it with a corporate mindset. “That would set you apart from the crowd, and isn’t that what will ‘win’ in this time and age?” We find out more about the spunky girl when we speak to her.
Browhaus x SHENTONISTA — Surprise
Jayne, Business Development, Jacket from H&M, Bracelets from Pandora and Tiffany & Co.
Jayne uses the Browhaus Bi-Liner in Blush Pink and the Browhaus Precision Eyeliner

Jayne works with multi-label footwear stores Leftfoot and P.V.S., and says that her jobs basically entails pretty much everything to do with the stores and brands: from dealing with the buying and sourcing of brands and collections, right down to responding to customers' enquiries. “I would say my job is pretty interesting because every day is a different set of challenges. I don't really have a routine that I stick to, as my job scope is pretty broad.” Despite her workload, Jayne is currently working on her new house and has been watching everything come together with much excitement. We steal a few moments of her time as she shares about her beauty experiences, as well as what she’s learnt from work.
Browhaus x SHENTONISTA — Pop-art
Debra, Banking, Skirt from Love Bonito, Necklace from Lovisa
Debra uses the Browhaus Bi-Liner in Bronze

If Debra looks familiar, it’s because she won our Shentonista of The Year 2014 contest, and each time we feature her, her style is consistently classic but outstanding. Working in the banking sector, Debra tries to be as disciplined as she can and not stay up too late at night as her work requires her to be very focused and meticulous. “My work entails number crunching, but it also requires a great deal of analytical skills.” she says. “The banking environment is also a very dynamic one, so I have to be very adaptable to change.” She still finds it important to maintain a balanced, active lifestyle, however, and goes spinning at the gym quite regularly, although she ideally hopes to exercise at least four times a week. We speak to her and find out about her beauty must-haves, and what else makes her tick.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES
ON-THE-GROUND CAMPAIGN
In the second part of our #BrowHunt campaign in collaboration with Browhaus, Shentonista hit the streets to scout for the potential next face of Browhaus. We visited both Shenton Way and Orchard Road, looking for ladies who represented Browhaus’ fun, youthful, and vibrant spirit and over the course of the day, we met, photographed and interviewed six such ladies. They were then entered into an online voting contest on Facebook, with the winning lady and runner up each winning prizes from Browhaus, Spa Esprit, and Strip. This campaign was also run in conjunction with Browhaus’ Instagram contest, in which members of the public could also enter themselves into the BrowHunt.

Browhaus x Shentonista #BrowHunt: Noblewoman
Nobelle, Student, Dress from Reckless Ericka, Shoes from Charles & Keith

We spotted Nobelle just hours after she chopped off her long locks into this edgy pixie cut. The undergraduate student says she usually isn’t very experimental with her look, however; she merely wanted a change. Nobelle takes the opportunity to gain some work experience during the holidays, working in PR & events. “This translates to meeting a lot of different people, most more experienced than I am, as well as managing a plethora of unexpected situations,” she says. “I’ve learn that being confident, firm yet flexible is important.” Nobelle certainly exudes confidence, even though she says this wasn’t always so —  she used to be overweight and had a really bad skin condition, exacerbated by sensitive skin. These days, Nobelle’s striving to be as physically fit and active as she can, and is careful about what she uses on her skin. We speak to her to find out what else she’s up to at the moment.
Browhaus x Shentonista #BrowHunt: T-Shirt Weather
Xi Xi, Student, Top from Shanghai, Shoes from Hongkong, Bracelet from Taiwan

Fair-skinned and statuesque, Xi Xi caught our eye as she was strolling down Orchard Road. Xi Xi is a student, and her casual-cool style is befitting of her youth and adds some spunk to her sweet character. Originally from China, Xi Xi is currently studying at a local polytechnic. We took some time to find out what she’s up to at the moment.
Browhaus x Shentonista #BrowHunt: Straightforward
Paulina, Events Marketing, Shirt from Reserved, Pants from Mango, Shoes from Adidas, Bag from Furla

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Paulina around; she’s dressed in her signature style of clean classics, with a sporty twist in the form of her signature sneakers. This suits her job in events marketing, which requires her to be “super sociable and fun”, as well as creative and organised. It’s clear that Paulina likes to have a little fun with her dressing, and doesn’t take fashion too seriously. We speak to her to find out what else makes her tick.
Browhaus x Shentonista #BrowHunt: Ultramarine
Li-An, Financial Sales, Jacket from Forever21, Shoes from Charles & Keith

Li-An works in financial sales, and says she recently moved to a new company, which has expanded her client base exponentially. “I love meeting new people, and while there's more work involved, I'm thoroughly enjoying the chance to travel and challenge myself.” Li-An has also learnt how to reappropriate her everyday style for the office; this striking, cobalt blue jacket, which instantly jazzes up her monochromatic look, is one such example. We find out more when we speak to her
Browhaus x Shentonista #BrowHunt: Spring Has Sprung
Tessa, Banking, Jumpsuit from ASOS, Bag from Prada, Shoes from DMK

An immediate attention-grabber in this one-piece floral outfit, Tessa is no stranger to the camera. It turns out she’s had a few modelling and pageant stints before, although she has settled down to work in the banking industry. “Beyond handling finances, I deal with people from all walks of life and build relationships with them,” she says. “I do miss the thrill of competitions and contests though!” It’s a good thing then, that we spotted her in the middle of Raffles Place, and stopped her to photograph her and ask her some questions.
Browhaus x Shentonista #BrowHunt: Whiteout
Ren Ran, Student, Skirt from American Apparel, Shoes from Beijing

We had initially thought that Ren Ran was a model, in town for Singapore Fashion Week, but it turns out that she’s still a student, and was actually here for a vacation from Beijing. She was due to fly off the next day, so we’re glad we managed to spot her. It was hard to miss her, really, in this lady-like ensemble of a cropped white top and full, washed denim skirt. Although she was a bit startled when we first approached her, the demure girl patiently took the time to answer some questions we asked in our halting Mandarin.

For Browhaus
OVERALL WINNER
In the final part of this campaign, we interviewed and photographed Browhaus’ final #Browhunt winner, Saffron, who created her own makeup look using Browhaus’ products. As the winner of Browhaus’ Instagram contest, in which members of the public could upload selfies of themselves, which they though best represented Browhaus, under the hashtag #Browhunt, Saffron won prizes from Browhaus, Spa Esprit, and Strip, and will be the face of Browhaus in its upcoming campaigns. Saffron was also photographed in Orchard Road, rounding off this three-month campaign.
Browhaus x Shentonista #Browhunt — Girl On Top
Saffron, Student, Top from Finders Keepers, Shoes from Topshop, Rings from The Haute Pursuit.
Saffron uses the Browhaus Bi-Liner in Grey, HD Mascara, and Classic Brow Lead.

Saffron is a rising Instagram star, and as the winner of Browhaus’ BrowHunt contest, her star seems set to rise even further, but as we talk to her we find her to actually be your average, teenage girl- next-door. Born of Chinese and English heritage, Saffron peppers her speech with lah’s and the usual youthful tropes, worries about school, exams, and her future, and comes across as pleasantly down- to-earth, candid, and relatable. Read on to find out more about her in the last part of our Browhaus x Shentonista campaign.
