How might we design for a disaster situation?
A rely card in which as a condition to pass it out challenges the one that is giving the card to do a specific kind action to the one that is receiving it.
Despite all the progress and commodities that human beings have built the force of nature is still something that human beings cannot predict, as so natural disasters place human beings into vulnerable conditions.
As a contradiction about the meaning of natural disasters, they also can bring empathy, compassion and solidarity through humanity. An evidence of the idea stated before is how NYC inhabitants reacted after Hurricane Sandy hit the island. New York City citizens manifested a sense of compassion and empathy. But why we should wait for a disaster happens to act like that?
This card relay aims to demolish the walls that humans have built and promotes kindness to others. The value about this project is that it seems almost un-designed.
About the project– During the process of this project the designers led a Design Workshop on Community-Led Resiliency, people from a diverse background assisted, like FEMA, Design practitioners, High School students to mention a few. The insights of this workshop settled the core of this project.
