Facilitating Data Collection during Wildfire response Operations
The management of the forest fire response process requires a high level of complex coordination and efficient communication within the team. The timely and effective collection and processing of large amounts of contstantly changing information is critical to the response decisions.
Through a user-centred approach a design that facilitates the data input process is proposed and tested.
The design consists of an office and a mobile interface, which would be used in the headquarters and by the crew leaders on the field respectively to support information input, communication and distribution.

Process and user requirements analysis was done at the response offices. Operators were interviewed to understand their daily challenges

The process analysis guided the design and layout of the interface, through translating the different information categories to tabs and panels on the interfaces.
