During the Royal's amazing 2014 run, the City of Kansas City, Missouri City Council and Mayor voted to temporarily change the name of Baltimore Ave. to Royals Ave. The signs were created as a way to engage the public and to raise money for the MLB charity RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities). A grand total of $35,000 was raised.
City Manager Troy Schulte and Communications Director Chris Hernandez present the check to children who benefit from RBI during their annual picnic. The proceeds are being used to buy a Sand Pro that will make upkeep of the fields much more manageable.
