Commission: Graduation Cards
- three custom, watercolored, popup graduation cards
The first for a boy who liked fantasy and reading, so I decided on a forest dragon composition.
Popup Card process (left to right): Finalized sketch, Linework, Watercolor
"Morning Read" Jun. 2015. Watercolor, graphite. 7” x 7”
Concept (c) Pam Kimball
The second for a girl who liked horses, and had adopted several rescued ones, so a definite horse theme with luck and compassion symbols.
Popup Card process (left to right): Finalized sketch, Linework, Watercolor
"Chrysanthemum" Jun. 2015. Watercolor, graphite. 7” x 7”
Concept (c) Pam Kimball
The third for a girl who liked to create fantasy characters, so I created a rendition of one of her characters with her permission.
Popup Card process (left to right): Finalized sketch, Linework, Watercolor
"Isabell Blaze" Jun. 2015. Watercolor, graphite. 7” x 7”
Character (c) Heather Kimball
Although I only have images of each card’s illustration process, each card had a part of the illustration that was cut out from the overfold of the card, creating a pop-up effect.
Happily Be!
