Description of project brief: The brief for the publication was that it had to be based on the subject of conflict. WW1 was my theme; it seemed very poignant given the current centenary. I wanted the publication to take the form of a soldier’s journal, depicting key moments from the conflict, but something that also felt personal. The inner pages were French folded; inside the folds were letters from actual soldiers I had re-mocked up myself. The idea was that these were private memories, and as a result should be viewed as such within the inner folds of the publication.
