Winery Scharfbillig

Visual Identity for a local winery in Igel, Germany.
When looking at businesses with great history and tradition as well as a young leadership and modern technology, it is a Designers job to find a visual solution to those important contrasts. Additionally to the challenge of combining tradition and modernity, it is important to take the businesses philosophy and market into account. An identity for the winery Scharfbillig was created, inspired by all those aspects mentioned. By combining current fonts, as well as fonts used at the time of the winery founding (1864), a typographic contrast creates an interesting tension. Combined with the screen printed key visuals as a classic technique, which came to Europe around the 1870's, a cohesive and unusual identity was generated, to set itself apart from other products on the market, yet keeping its classic elegance of a German Mosel winery.
