Baneling 3D Print

This is my 3D printed model of a StarCraft 2 'Baneling'. I made a Zbrush sculpt some time ago (check here) and I recently got myself a 3D printer for very cheap. So, I just had to print this bad boy (or girl?) !
Made it's bulbuous acidic pockets of Glow in the Dark PLA material for the extra effect! This model radiates a room!

You can see my workflow here below, hope you like it! Please do appreciate, even if you don't like StarCraft! :P
Final printed and painted version. I used Royal Talens 'Amsterdam' Expert-series of paint. Excellent stuff for the job with rich colors!
It's 'acidic' pockets and behind are glowing!
My inital Zbrush sculpt on which the print is based
Printed all the big parts. Did some pre-calc to determine what size I wanted to have and use my buildingplate to it's maximum size. It's a rather small building plate, 14x14x14cm. So I had to slice things up and make everything with keys
Although I printed this in PLA, the printer did a good job (crappy Cubify 2nd gen). There are still some striations and ridges so I used Alabastine Spray filler which works excellent in my opinion. It's a bit of a filler and primer all in one!
After lot's of layers of the Alabastine spray, I did some time sanding stuff down and layer again with the spray filler. The teeth were a bit jagged unfortunately but that's all to do with the size and detail in there. My printer only does 200 microns at most. My future printer will have at least 50 microns or less layer height. If you're into this sort of thing with sculptures, you really want the detail..
I'm far from a modelkit builder but I really wanted to go the extra mile here. I ordered some miliput for getting rid of those large gaps in between parts and overall filling out the leftover ridges. Works great! Easy to smooth out with your fingers and a bit of water.
So here it is! Pretty much set! I will cover up little bits with paint ;-)
First layer of paint. A base layer of burnt umber. Gradually building up things. Since it had a grey base color I didn't have to mix much actually.. Can't stress enought:  Royal Talens Amsterdam Expert-series paint, good stuff! ;-)
Made some neon green vein flowing to it's 'acidic pockets'...
Smile!
