What started out as a postcard turned out to something entirely different.

So I've been a member of Arte Correo Filipinas for a few months now. Arte Correo Filipinas, by the way, is a group of artists started by former work colleagues. Each member will have to create an artwork every month to be sent through snail mail with the recipient of the artwork randomly selected.

The artworks are normally Postcards but I've decided to take things to a different level: I've decided to create an album packaging instead. I've been fantasizing of creating one for years and the snail mail art trade with Arte Correo Filipinas provided the best opportunity for that. And besides, it's still small and light enough to be sent through snail mail.

Choosing what to do for the album packaging turned out to be the easiest part of this personal project. I've been a huge listener of La Roux for many years now and it was easily decided that this will be a fanart of her and a compilation of her songs. Besides, Her hair lends well to the semi-abstraction I was aiming for this work, For the compilation, I've handpicked a few of her well known hits plus some personal favorites.

Doing this artwork proved to be a very fun activity. I was able to vent out my frustration with creating an album art while at the same time expressing and sharing my love for La Roux. It was also very fulfilling as well as I was able to play around with mixing abstraction with realism.

Anyway, this quite took quite some time to create. The details, patterns and conceptualization were time-consuming but it was all worth the effort. Used Watercolors for the skin tones and pencils for the abstract figures and patterns.
