These images are photoshop paintings made before attempting the actual thing in real life. Now my shed is clear - I can get in there and make a start :-) The main painting will be split into a series of 3 boards and will be a little over 3.5 metres in length-It will be part of a series of 3 paintings from the Apes narrative that will be made on a larger scale compared to the smaller book illustrations. Following seeing some of the large scale Judge Dredd Paintings from John Hickleton a few years ago, I was impressed by how amazing the bigger scaled paintings he had made looked when shrunk down into graphic novel size
This part of the story shows a large crowd of apes gethering in response to one of the lead characters (Chut) objections to how his teachings have been perverted by a higher clergy of apes. This part of the story prequels some of the other images in my other posts.
