Various School Projects - Part I

In this project folder, I'm showcasing this past year's projects for school. I've included some photoshop renders, digital paintings, spot illustration for a magazine, a logo creation, and a vector illustration. Everything will include the definition of the brief and the thought process which I approached each project.
// STRANGE WAFFLES Photoshop render //

- BRIEF -
For this project we randomly selected words from a box and the words were used to comprise a band name. We then needed to create a complete promotional image for the imaginary band.

- THOUGHT PROCESS -
My thought was to display a bar venue scene right before the band plays their set. I wanted to include little easter eggs within the image for those who are really looking at the image closely.

// Tangerines Digital Painting //

- BRIEF -
Create a painting that reflects the intended painting style using vibrant colors and great composition styling.

- THOUGHT PROCESS -
My goal was to create an image that mixes simplicity, everyday life, and vibrant colors with an oil painting style. My muses were tangerines, torn open and whole.
// Owls Spot Illustration //

- BRIEF -
We were to create a spot illustration for a wildlife/ lifestyle magazine primarily depicting any type of bird of our choosing. Hot and cold colors were to be focused on and any style was up for our choosing.

- THOUGHT PROCESS -
I love owls. They're such different and powerful, wonderous creatures. I wanted to geometrically create the owls. The idea behind making them geometric was to allow the image to be understood no matter what age, race, sex, etc. I chose to create everything in Illustrator, the images being infinitely scalable and without image loss.
// Twitter Bird/ Social Media Shaming Illustration //

- BRIEF -
Create a illustration for a digital article depicting the Twitter bird being beaten down or degraded by cyber bullies. The image is to be digitally painted and composed.

- THOUGHT PROCESS -
I immediately thought of the obvious and thought of a boxing match between the bird and a person. Through much deliberation and brain storming, I came to the conclusion that I needed to think more creatively. I came up with the Twitter bird "walking the plank" on a pirate ship, the other birds being the cyber bullies. I wanted to allow the illustration to be more loose and painterly.
// Eatery 101 Logo //

- BRIEF -
Create a logo rebrand for the restaurant in the school. The logo is to be edgy but still classy, fresh and recognizable and clearly use the school's branding and colors and suit the redesign of the interior of the restaurant.

- THOUGHT PROCESS -
First off, I love dining out and the culinary arts. From this love, I've amassed knowledge and experience in this field. I wanted to create something timeless and easily readable. My vision being similar to Michelin star restaurants' logos; simplicity is key. My logo created depicted a level of classiness but still kept within the scolarly- school theme. The knife told the customer that it is a bistro/ classy style restaurant. Spacing and composition were to reflect the school theme as well.
// Life is Sweet Vector Illustration //

- BRIEF -
Create a phrase out of everyday found objects and arrange them in a creative manner, fully creating a cohesive image.

- THOUGHT PROCESS -
I LOVE candy. At that particular time, the game Candy Crush was incredibly popular and released its own candy line for Halloween. I thought, why not create a wonderful phrase utilizing such wonderful objects (both digitally and physically). I came up with "Life is Sweet". The phrase includes and uses the addictive sound of the Candy Crush game along with something that I believe in day in and day out.
