They were interested in the visual style presented in Empyrean and approached Ganesh Rao and myself to create a music video for their re-release of their song Eden featuring their new vocalist, Elliot Coleman (hence the 2.0). For this piece, I was in charge of creating a look that mimicked Empyrean but had to be done so on an incredibly small budget. Much of the lighting used in Eden were clamp lights, which I heavily diffused, and inexpensive paper lanterns. Overall, the entire video with lit on a budget of about $600.
In post, I created the cube, matching camera angles and animating it. The glowing was done with a combination of practical lighting effects and CG compositing. The actual model's glow was achieved through compositing but the glow on the actors came from a 500W daylight balanced bulb, which had to be composited out. .
