Eleborate frames become the Art themselves instead of the dressing for a work of Art. Complex and heavy compositions of elaborate gilded carving become light and airy when executed in a quick, abbreviated linear style. Like the work of Christian Berard and Dorothy Draper in the 1930's, these designs make something formal, elaborate and somber into something whimsical, light-hearted and playful. Because eache frame is composed of individual tiles, they can turn corners, run up a wall or wrap an entire room. The baroque is domesticated and becomes a playful choise for the modern home.
