Although watches are now considered accessory, they have also been a necessary tool before we had computers and mobile phones. It is interesting how watches transitioned into something that is solely used to express yourself, your style, your position in society. This project is an attempt to create a watch, based on bracelets, often used in formal situations. There is no usual watch strap, instead the metal is quite soft and can be bent a little bit to secure it comfortably on the wrist. Although U watch serves a function of a regular bracelet and adds a touch of luxury and confidence to the person’s appearance, it is also a very useful tool of easily keeping track of time, which means it’s much easier to justify this investment and more uses in other situations become possible. Although it seems quite obvious that many watches should be inspired by jewelry, this inspiration usually fails to become a central part of the design process and remains something that designer add to the object, instead of turning into a way of thinking and questioning old standards. Even with this obvious connection of jewelry and watches, product remains interesting and unconventional as well as luxurious, while at the same time very simple in it’s shape.
