EPS: Een bord vol rechten

‘Een bord vol rechten’ is an EPS Project that was set up to teach children in Belgium about children’s rights by using digital technologies, such as smart boards and tablets to stimulate interaction in class. The users of the platform are pupils in Belgium from the 5th and 6th grade of elementary school and their teachers, and it is supposed to be used for about 1 or 2 times a month, during 1 or 2 hours.
The aim of the project is sensitize the children through discussion activities, make them participate and increase their interaction in class with visual stuff.  The games themselves will be a variation of activities, done with a tablet but also without one, in (small) groups but also alone or with the whole class.
The platform is based on 12 activities and each activity represents one right. One character introduces the story and each right has another short story that makes the activity easier to empathise for the pupils.

The project is a real application with real stakeholders. The clients were two important NGO's in Belgium, Vormen vzw and Unicef. And the group did some user tests with different children during daily clases.

Here you can see the research poster designed to explain the project, some examples of users and some mock ups to show the final result.
Here are some pictures of the final presentation with all the Kidea members: Albert Bercero (industrial designer) , Joke Soetewey (crossmedia designer), Joris Daems (social worker), Loukina Looze (industrial designer) and Michael Harmon (software engineer).
Here is the Kidea team logo that represent the EPS project group. Kidea is a combination between kid and idea and the isotype comes from two concepts; first, the idea of interaction, a hand touching a screen, something dynamic; and second "Een bord vol rechten" is a social project, a hand helping the world.
