Intramurs Arts Festival started in 2014 and it's an initiative which occupies the streets, abandoned lots and other non institutional spaces of the historic centre of Valencia. Organised by a group of artists from Valencia without government funding with the idea to “take art out into the streets, support new forms of arts management, reclaim the use of public space by public and artists, make art more accessible, participative and dynamic and give space to minority artistic disciplines which are not normally seen in museums or galleries”.
I participed with a shop window design at the vintage shop El Monstruo del Armario.
My work, called Ophelia, wanted to show by illustration and staging the last scene of Hamlet. This design looks for transmit the beauty but gloomy death of the character wich symolizes the beauty and madness. Her tragic end is read in different ways depending the spectator.
El Festival de Arte Intramurs empezó en 2014 y es una iniciativa que invade las calles, solares abandonados y espacios no institucionales del centro histórico de Valencia. Organizado por un grupo de artistas valencianos, sin financiación guvernamental, con la idea de "llevar el arte a las calles, apoyando nuevas formas de gestión artística, recuperando el uso de espacios públicos por artistas y vecinos de la ciudad, haciendo que el arte sea más accesible, participativo y dinámico, así como dando un lugar a las disciplinas artísticas minoritarias las cuales, normalmente, no tienen espacio en museos o galerías.
Yo participé con el diseño de un escaparate en la tienda vintage El Monstruo del Armario.
Mi obra, llamada Ophelia, buscaba, mediante escenografía e ilustración, la escena final de la obra de Hamlet. Con ella se pretendía transmitir la hermosa pero melancólica muerte del personaje que simboliza la belleza y locura y cuyo final es justificado de diferentes maneras según el espectador.
