This project was an experiment of map design, as well as minimal layout and organic structures that exist in cities and towns due to their roads, buildings, and park areas. The maps below are variations of the Michigan city of Grand Haven. The variations are built with the roads and buildings forming the borders of land, streets, and parks as well as waterways. The original piece included outlined borders both geological, and political boundaries, then it was adjusted to show forms such as water edges, city borders and streets through the use of negative space with positive space of the building and natural spaces.
