Inspired by the flexibility of paper, Donald and Little Sidekicks is a dining table and chair set created in memory of my last year at CCA studying with Donald Fortescue. I created this work by using the laminated bending technique, which involves molding glued layers of ash veneers into desired forms.
The form of the design is a cooperation between the material and the designer. According to my Steam Bending instructor David Colwell, “ You have to let the material decide where it wants to bend.”
