6人のアーティストによる6つのたまご。

Eggoism is an exhibition held in Roppongi by Kana Takarada and Matteo Morelli. I have joined in the exhibition as an artist. The aim of this exhibition is to show the collaboration between five creators. All of us felt that the process of creating an art event is the best way in result to educate ourselves. Moreover it is a good opportunity to broaden our view and inspiration working with other young artists of different fields. Creating a stimulating design network is also one of our goals. The reason beind the name “Eggoism” is that the word “egoism” sounded too strong, thus by combining the cool sounding word “egg” into “egoism” we felt that it will make the name of the exhibition welcoming as well as cool sounding. The aim was to see how different artists and different egos can find ways of expression from the simple and mundane word of “eggs”.

Ego is the distinction between the self, and others. In my concept for the Eggosim exhibition, I questioned myself; how do we give birth to the “self” in art and design? To me, my works are like a diary. I take importance in inputting my emotions in my works, which is how i feel expresses the “self” in art. Furthermore, my artworks circulate around the theme of “love”. This also goes back to the theme of “ego” and “self” because the relationships I have experienced are personal. From such experiences, I have built my philosophy of the word, “love”, in which all my artworks continuously revolve around. “love” is a very abstract word. Thus, my concept is to make my everchanging definition of love and relationships visible to the eye through my oil paintings. Such fascinations and interests are the basis for my works exhibitited in Eggoism.

グループ展は私たちクリエイターにとって、自分の作品と向き合える良い機会であると同時に、さまざまな分野から参加するアーティストの作品を身近に体感できる唯一無二の空間である。EGGOISMでは、日本だけでなく海外から参加する学生や若手アーティスト６人が、それぞれ自分の「エゴ」を提示する。「たまご」というポップでアイキャッチーなモチーフと「エゴイズム : 利己主義」という堅いテーマを融合させることによって、来客者にも想像しやすく身近なテーマにするよう心がけた。さらに、さまざまなエゴを持つ国籍のアーティストが、異なる分野の「たまご」を一挙に展示する、刺激的で楽しい空間を目指した。

　私は日頃から『愛』や『感情』というテーマをもとに制作している。今回の展示では『エゴ、他人とは違う自分がある』というコンセプトがあったので、私は日々自分なりに描いている感情表現をそのまま展示したいと思った。それは自分が経験したこと、感じたこと、を日記のようにキャンバスにうつすことである。その上に私は愛と言う経験、感情を作品のテーマとして大切にしている。「愛」は人間なら誰もが持っているもの。私の考えでは、愛はいつも空気の中に、どこにでも溶け込むように存在する。愛は目に見えない。だからこそ私は絵画を通して愛というものを視覚化することに興味を持っている。さらに、愛には様々なかたちがある。「君が好き、でも君は他の男が好き」「君は私のことを好き、しかし私は他の女が好き」などなど。こういう状況、そして自分が愛に関して経験してきたものを絵画で表現することを日々に研究している。
私は決して恋愛について詳しいわけではないが、愛について描くのが最も好きだ。愛について描くことで、作品が自分のその時の感情によって変わっていく。だから去年描いた絵と、今描いてる絵は全然違う。まさに文字のない日記のように作品が並び、もっと絵を描いていきたいと感じさせる。

空虚に直面しているとき、もしくは感情が動くとき、
きっと私たちは過去から何か学習したのだろう。

Why can we feel the air is reddish and joyful when we are in love?
Why do we feel the air is dark and feel sadness inside after heartbreak?
How do you make these abstract emotions visible through painting?
This year after I experienced some heartbreak I decided to turn my emotions into a painting.
I simply drew what I saw in my mind.

なぜ恋をすると世界がピンク色に染まり、幸せに包まれるのか？
なぜ失恋をすると空気が淀み、こころが悲しみに包まれるのだろうか？
この年に起きた失恋をきっかけに自分の感情を絵に落とし込んだ。
こころの中に見えるものをそのまま描いた。
