Doors open day leaflet!
Doors open day!

Doors open day takes place in september and is a group of free tours, talks and events which take place around glasgow showing off the historical architecture. My brief was to go on one of the three main tours (I chose the arty achi tour) and then to design a pocket sized leaflet which had the information and a map of the tour. The leaflet would be a keepsake and obviously the interest in these buildings on these tours really helps protect these historical gems.

My concept was roots! (ie. the history of the buildings rooted deep in Glasgow)

The overall look?
Since its not just old people who go on these tours and the emphasis of encouraging a younger audience to go on them I gave the folded leaflet quite a clean and modern look. I used the gorgeous font serifan with microsoft sans serif and used a variety of lines and colours to really get across my rooted theme. The folded leaflet was designed as a little pocket sized keepsake but it also had enough information that somebody just wandering about on their own could go on the tour.

What was required?
An A3 leaflet which folds down to A5.

Inspiration and research!
Out of the three walks I went on the arty archi tour and was inspired by the pictures i took and the drawings i did. The buildings on the tour (grecian chambers, dental hospital etc.)have a rich history and are a big part of Glasgow (their roots lie deep). I went by quite an abstract way of expressing my concept but i feel it contrasted well with the fonts and really helped make the leaflet showcase the buildings in a modern fashion.
