Character Design

The coach character needed to embody both strength and compassion. By creating a coach persona instead of a traditional therapist, the messenger feels more like like the trusted, familiar archetypes that many soldiers recognize from scholastic sports and basic training. The whistle, clipboard, khakis, and collar say leadership and structure while the tennis shoes and sweater convey stability, calm, and flexibility. The haircut feels like a few short months of post-service growth while the racial ambiguity is inclusive and compliments the benevolent gaze that's both welcoming and empathizing. The subtle, closed-mouth smile says he's happy to help and wants to listen. He's not only your friend, he's one of you and he's here to help you achieve your goals.
