So this was actually a second attempt at the whole space gears concept. The first attempt got painted over quite a few times so I ventured into Photoshop to see what other concepts I could come up with. This seemed like it worked so I started sketching it out.
I didn't do so well with painting the cogs as accurately as one might hope, but who would have ever guessed painting cogs is way super hard?
Boy, if I thought painting miniscule cogs and gears was difficult, I had another thing coming when I tried to paint the moon. I just went ahead and got that hard part out of the way and then never touched it again.
I almost left it like this, and I think I actually did leave it like this for maybe almost a month. I finally did finish it and do the rest of the background...also because I was about to make a visit to see my sister and kind of needed it to be more done looking.
Pretty close to the original concept! Now it lives at my sister's house and I like to think her NASA friends come over and comment on it while they drink wine and talk about NASA stuff.
