Vertshuset Oscar is a unique restaurant in Drammen (Norway), with historical roots. The building dates from the 1800's, creating the framework of a housewarm atmosphere. The restaurant focuses on quality ingredients and serves traditional Norwegian food with an exotic twist. Vertshuset Oscar is also known for its wide selection of quality wines and offers a variety of exciting drinks.
The new visual identity is based on the person Oscar. He is a fictional character from the 1800s, who was well traveled and had much knowledge of food and wine. The concept reflects quality status of the restaurant , providing guests with a person they can relate to. Pictures (which are all taken by me) are a powerful tool in the identity, and help set the visual tone throughout the concept and create good feelings and interest to potential guests. The typography Baskerville has been chosen to create a classic, timeless feel. In addition, the warm green color helps to soften up the formal expression, and provides the identity with the housewarm atmosphere which characterizes the restaurant.
