Wallpaper* City Guide

Barcelona.
After a visit to Barcelona and using one of the Original Wallpaper* guides first hand, I got the idea for this brief to create a set of City Guides using the street patters as a basis for the  cover design.
After visiting the amazing design museum in Barcelona I got a few ideas about what I wanted it to look like and the style I was going to use going forward with the project. Each cities has it's own character and I thought it was appropriate that the most recognisable parts of each cities personality was it's streets. Barcelona has a very strong block pattern, much like the US system. However the Barcelona has a huge road that runs throughout the city, De Diagonal

Amsterdam.
Amsterdam is one of my favourite places in the world, the culture, the people and the atmosphere of the city. The design was, like the others in the series, was designed around the street pattern in section of the city. I chose for Amsterdam a area that i had stayed twice before. The design features the blue canals and green trees which can be seen through out the city, the strong block system and the criss-crossing street.

Budapest.
Much like many other European cities they use a strong grid system for their street pattern, but as Budapest is a older city the streets get very intricate and messy as you start to explore. Here I focused on an area in the cities I stayed, North of the amazing Városliget city park. Here there is two main roads that surround the park; M3 bevezető and Váci út seen in red. The Rakos Patak which is a small stream that runs through this area and connected to the iconic Danube river that divides the city into Buda and Pest.

Final Outcomes
Seeing how well the four books have come out I intent to keep working on creating individual designs for each 110 Phaidon Wallpaper* City Guides. I hope to do 4 designs each times, this will be a large project but I think the hard work will pay off and I look forward to the results.
Although, this may have to go on hold for a year as I will be going into my 3rd and final year at Uni this might be a tall order to finish next year.
Thank you for your time,
I hope you enjoyed the work.
