red-letter day / “Krasnyj Den’Kalendarya”


In the threshold of presidential elections and International Women’sDay, studio “KUHNYA” (“KITCHEN”) presents a project “Red-letter Day” (“KrasnyjDen’ Kalendarya”), by photographer Julia Simakova. This is a deep gender lookat the previous project “Russian Winter”. Not without politics here, but theaccent has been moved from public politics to the politics of inner motivation.The project represents a photo report made with a camera pointed at the innerself.

“This is a look at concern and worry of peopleof all times and peoples through the prism of feminine nature.
A woman at pre-menstrual period is the drivingforce of progress. She wants to get more and better of everything. And, shedoes it. Nothing can stop her.
“Oh, and these meetings...» we wish everybodyjust to be patient. This period is not always a critical moment. Sometimes awoman doesn’t pay any attention to this. But sometimes she’s ready to go to thebright future with banners.
A woman doesn’t choose this monthly period.

The country does. A cock chooses a hen. Woman,inspite of everything, has stability. She doesn't have a cho
ice, the naturedoesn't have it, too.
